Overview of Management Department

The Management Department was originally founded with the name of “Official Services” since the establishment of Alzahra University in 1964 and then it has been renamed into Management Department. In this department, developing knowledge and awareness in all over the society, is considered as a responsibility in addition to training students and so many efforts have been always made aiming to reach this objective. On the other hand, regarding that the managerial thinking don’t believe in the separation of university and society, the efforts which have been made by the professors of this major cause worthwhile services to the society of Iran. Currently, there are 12 faculty members working in this unit consisting of six associate professors and six assistant professors.

Introduction of Management Field

Roots of managerial affairs in Iran go back a long way and have an ancient record from a distant past. Maybe, it can be say that there was the oldest bureaucracy with advanced rules and geographical comprehensiveness in ancient Persia which, in spite of the geographical comprehensiveness,observance the rights of others and even recommendation of respecting to the conventions of different areas under the rule of Iran, is  one of the honors of Iranians. The contracts which are in form of stone mantles, are the oldest contracts through the history of mankind and including the advanced laws to observe the rights of employees, back to the Achaemenian. Various organizational, executive and behavioral functions of this field make it one of the most attractive majors and developed universities in the world try to attract the most talented students in this field. Not only, management field is just one science but also is a science that is involved with most of the sciences and isn’t devoted to one person but all members of society deal with it.

Levels of Education

In Alzahra University, this major started its activities in B.A level, Nowadays. it has two fields of B.A. level including Business Administration with 128 students and Financial Management with 55 students. The first M.A. level is launched in the field of Marketing in 2000 then, the other fields of M.A. are launched. Currently, Management Department has 4 fields of M.A. in five areas consisting of master of Financial Management with 40 students, master of Marketing Management with 44 students, master of Information Technology Management with two areas including Information Systems with 33 students and Electronic Business with 34 students and finally master of Executive Business Administration (MBA) with 50 students. There are also 16 students in master of Information Technology Management in Electronic Business area which is presented in Urmia branch of university. It launched the P.H.D. program in the field of International Marketing in 2002 and currently there are 14 students studying in this level. Now, the department continues its activities with totally 414 students in different levels.

Professional job market for graduates in Management

This major has a dynamic job market and usually has allocated most of the Alzahra university graduates employment. Considering graduates abilities of this field, they easily start to work in different organizations. Graduates of Management Department are employed in various markets including marketing, financial and capital market fields, different fields of information technology management and executive management. Additionally, many of them are admitted to high levels of education.
